What We’re Looking For
As our new Jr. Mechanical Designer, you will work with design colleagues to help design customized solutions and provide support in the areas of mechanical design, stress analysis, building, testing, troubleshooting, repairing, and modifying developmental components, parts, equipment, and systems. S/he will apply principles and theories of mechanical engineering, engineering mathematics, mechanical testing and physics. This position will act as a technical resource for staff in the Operations department, specifically regarding final test, RMA repairs and QC activities. The Mechanical Designer works under the supervision of the Strategic Development Manager.
Responsibilities
●       Assist in preparing design drawings and specifications.
●       Design mechanical parts and assemblies and use AutoDesk Inventor and AutoCAD to create 3D models, assembly drawings, machinist drawings for both
          standard and customized applications.
●       Assemble and test both mechanical and electrical prototypes as required.
●       Set up and operate specialized and standard test equipment to diagnose, test and analyze the performance of mechanical components, assemblies and
          systems. Assist scientists and engineers in applied research in mechanical engineering.
●       Provide technical assistance to Operations in sourcing standard mechanical components.
●       Assist in project management and scheduling activities, mentoring other R&D staff to increase overall capabilities in the department.
●       Act as a backup in our Operations department for final test, RMA repair and quality control duties as needed.
●       Act as a resource to the Sales department, to be called on to provide technical support to clients and obtain feedback for improvement.
●       Create and maintain Bill of Materials (BOMs) for mechanical components, assemblies, and entire devices.
●       Create Engineering Change Orders required by changes to the mechanical components of our products.
●       Develop product, training and instruction manuals for both customers and internal users.
●       Prepare and maintain design, testing or operational records and documentation.
Qualifications
●       Mechanical Engineer, Mechatronics Engineer, Mechanical Engineering Technologist or equivalent.
●       Hands-on experience in mechanical design/manufacturing.
●       Experience assembling electro-mechanical instruments either in a professional or personal capacity.
●       Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situation where only limited standardization exists.
●       Experience using machine tools to produce and modify parts from raw materials.
●       Strong ability to read and create mechanical drawings and wiring diagrams.
●       Strong knowledge of Inventor, AutoCAD and Microsoft Office applications.
